Detectives investigating the discovery of a dead otter found in an illegal crayfish trap in the River Witham at Wyndham Park in February have renewed their appeal for information.

DC Aaron Flint, Lincolnshire Police wildlife officer for Grantham, wants to hear from anyone with any information about the incident.

A police spokesman said: "Otters are a European Protected Species and protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act.

"Not taking enough care or deliberately injuring an otter is an offence that can be prosecuted."

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident 219 of February 7, or email DC Flint on [email protected].
