Cristian wants Grantham food lovers to 'Take Italy'
A family-run home-based Italian take-away is to be launched in Grantham later this month.
Take Italy is the creation of Cristian Romeo, who has a background in Italian pizzerias and restaurants.
Cristian, who came from Italy to Grantham almost five years ago, told Nub News: "Take Italy was born out of love for the kitchen united with love for our land."
Though he and other family members miss Reggio Calabria in the southern part of Italy, where they are from, they see Grantham and England as a land of opportunities and returning back would be a step back.
Cristian says he has visited many Italian restaurants and he believes a home based service will allow people to taste Italian food and be closer to its culture.
He said: "We want to take catering to another level. Our dishes will be cooked at home and not in a classic restaurant.
"We will not make any changes to our dishes. We will propose classic recipes of our land without any foreign influence. We want to bring the Italian cuisine to a level never seen before also because some of our dishes
are part of the street kitchen. "We are an Italian family with Calabrian origins, precisely of Reggio Calabria. I have always worked in Italian pizzerias and restaurants with an average flow of people ranging from 100 to 150 people in the service. I did everything before I realized my dream." Cristian will be helped out by other family members, including sister Denise Romeo (pictured). He continued: "Everything was born during the lastlockdown. I was in Italy at my grandparents' and I thought what I could have done once I got back, given the situation was not the best.
"Together with my father we thought that starting a take-away business would have been the best thing to do
in anticipation of the next lockdown. "It was not easy to decide what we actually wanted to open up, because the ideas were various but fundamentally we were more and more inclined to a take-away home "I don't want to be too sure about us and our productsbut I know for a fact that an Italian cuisine like ours has never been seen in England before."
"I combine a bit of English and Italian cuisine to satisfy a more wide range of customers.
"The products we offer are all handmade inside the house and we do not use any commercial products. Even the bread is made by us."
Initially, the venture will be take-away only but in time, Cristian would like to be able to organise private events and parties. A delivery service is also being planned.
The address for take away is 3A Fletcher Street, Grantham.
