Coronavirus crisis: Three weekend deaths in Lincolnshire

Three more patients died over the weekend in Lincolnshire with coronavirus-related conditions.

The United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust reported two deaths on Saturday – men aged 83 and 87 with underlying heath conditions.

The trust, which runs the hospitals at Grantham, Boston, Lincoln and Louth, also reported the death of an 87-year-old man yesterday, which brings the total number of deaths at its hospitals to 125.

No deaths were reported in Rutland yesterday.

Nationally, the number of UK deaths yesterday increased by 170 to 34,636 across the UK. The total number of cases increased by 3,534 to 243,695.

Yesterday afternoon, Public Health England reported Lincolnshire had 1,040 cases, an increase of four on Saturday, giving it a rate of 137.6 cases per 100,000 population.

This compares with an England average of 256 cases per 100,000, bases on its 143,311 reported and confirmed cases.

Rutland remained at 32 cases, or 80.6 cases per 100,000- the fourth best rate in the country of all the district authorities.

Among the districts, South Kesteven reported one more case yesterday, putting it at 154 (108.6 cases per 100,000).

North Kesteven remained at 131 (112.9).

Melton increased two to 62 (121.3).

Peterborough remained at 368 (183.0).

South Holland remained at 198 (210.7).
