A Grantham business hopes to blossom again with home delivery of flowers.

Sue Hodgson of Flowers from Holland is launching the service on Monday, after several weeks of working alone making flower arrangements for funerals.

The former chair of Grantham Business Club closed the delivery side of her business on Mothering Sunday, March 22. Sue then focused on supplying funeral directors and their customers.

The businesswoman told Grantham Nub News: "The funeral work has been severely limited because the numbers who can attend funerals are also limited. Only ten are allowed to attend. It's a very difficult time for people."

Furthermore, supplies of fresh flowers from the Netherlands and elsewhere were disrupted, but supplies have since improved.

Sue will offer a range of flowers, which will feature no plastic packaging, and will be left on a doormat when the doorbell is rung. Sue will then wait to see the flowers are then picked up safely.

Sue says safety is ensured as no contact with the customer will be made.

When the flower arrangements are made, there may only be one member of staff working and they wear PPE equipment.

The range starts at £20 for a 'hello' bouquet, with a 'rainbow bouquet' of different coloured roses starting at £25. Local delivery is free.

Orders are taken over the telephone on 01476-574006.

Details of the flowers available can be found on the Flowers from Holland website.

With the pandemic, Sue says Grantham has lost a few people to coronavirus, but fortunately not as many as other places.

"We have to stay safe. Certainly my shop isn't going to be open but we will be running a service. It's important me and my team remain safe. We are not an essential business (as classified by the government). We are not in food. People will understand that."
