Our officers and staff work tirelessly to protect the public of Lincolnshire, but one detective is going above and beyond to ensure her local community does not go without.

Detective Constable Georgia McCormack established a foodbank in the south of the county, in April, to help members of the local community who were struggling to get by due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Working tirelessly with the local parish as well as local schools has helped DC McCormack reach out and identify families who are in need of an extra helping hand.

In addition to running the food bank, Georgia is also a mother of three young children and a full-time Detective Constable at Lincolnshire Police, working in the Protecting Vulnerable Persons (PVP) Unit.

She said: "Local people were starting to struggle with the impact of Coronavirus so I wanted there to be a resource they can use to support themselves and their families on a short-term basis, to get themselves immediate help while they get themselves back on their feet again.

"I have seen families now starting to thrive again after using the foodbank for a few weeks and I feel very proud to be able to help them in this way."

DC McCormack also set aside some of her spare time to open the foodbank on Christmas Eve and managed to help a number of families celebrate the festive season.

Husband Dan McCormack, who is also a full-time police sergeant said: "My wife does this in addition to not only being a full time Detective with Lincolnshire Police, but also being a wonderful mother to our three children who are all under 10 years old. I am immensely proud of what she has achieved in such a short amount of time."

DC McCormack added: "It's important that people reach out if they are in need, or if they know others that need help in what has been a really difficult year. Local food banks are available in most villages, towns and cities, so please don't be afraid to use them if needed.

"I just want to say thank you to everyone that donates to the foodbank. The support has been overwhelming and this would not have been possible without such kind and generous people!"

Note: Lincolnshire Police did not identify the name or exact location of the foodbank, at the request of Dc McCormack.
