Businesses across South Kesteven are urged to see what help they can receive to help them through the country's third national lockdown.

Earlier this week, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced a £4.6Bn package of grant support for businesses in the retail, leisure and hospitality sector.

South Kesteven and other district councils will administer the funds, but SKDC is still awaiting details of how to administer the money.

Closed businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors that are live on the business rates register will receive a one-off grant payment as follows:

£4,000 for businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or under

£6,000 for businesses with a rateable value between £15,001 and £51,000

£9,000 for businesses with a rateable value of over £51,000

Grantham MP Gareth Davies said: "This one-off grant is in addition to the existing monthly closed grant of up to £3,000 per month that businesses continue to be eligible for. These grants are worth over £1 billion of taxpayer money in total per month.

The MP continued: "Over 6,000 retail, hospitality and leisure business premises are expected to benefit from these grants and it should be pointed out that businesses can receive multiple grants, as they are eligible on a per premises basis.

"Local authorities will receive the funding for these one-off grants next week and will be encouraged to make the payments as soon as possible."

"In addition, Local Authorities will also be given an additional £500 million in discretionary funding to support local businesses."

The leader of South Kesteven District Council, Coun Kelham Cooke, continued: "InvestSK will once again be administering these funds on behalf of and in partnership with South Kesteven District Council.

"As soon as more details about the new grant programmes are released by Government, we'll interpret and update you. In the meantime, please click here to visit our website for the latest information about the grant schemes we're currently operating."

He added: "I'm also pleased that InvestSK will be hosting our next Tea Break event at 9.30am on Monday 25 January where we'll provide an update about the latest support available. Businesses in all sectors are welcome to attend – please book your free place here."
