The daily number of Covid-19 cases in South Kesteven has fallen today, stabilising the district's 7-day infection rate.

South Kesteven recorded 7 cases today, compared with 9 yesterday, and six on Tuesday.

This means the 7-day rate for South Kesteven remains at 42.1 cases per 100,000 of population, which is still less than half of the England 7-day case rate of 101.5- about 1 case for every thousand people.

South Kesteven now has a recorded 7793 cases since the start of the pandemic- about one for each 20 residents, which compares with the England average of one for each 15 residents.

The number of reported deaths remains at 270, following an 'increase' by 3 last Wednesday due to changes in how the figures were calculated, rather than any actual deaths.

The last death was about a month ago and the district has recorded two deaths in more than 2 months.

Meanwhile, there have been 177 new coronavirus cases in Greater Lincolnshire on Thursday — more than double last week's figures (127% rise from 78).

The government's COVID-19 dashboard on Thursday recorded 78 new cases in Lincolnshire, 74 in North East Lincolnshire and 25 in North Lincolnshire.

However, both the dashboard and NHS figures reported no further deaths across the region.

Nationally on Thursday, cases increased by 16,703 to 4,684,572, while a further 21 deaths took the tally to 128,048.

In Lincolnshire, more than 80% of Lincolnshire has now had a first dose of the coronavirus vaccine and nearly 70% their second.
