Coronavirus crisis: September case numbers already exceed August

There have been 115 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Greater Lincolnshire this month, as cases surpassed the whole of August in just 11 days.
Government figures reported on Friday that there had been 16 new positive tests in Lincolnshire, three in North East Lincolnshire and six in North Lincolnshire.
This means there have been 212 cases in our region in the since September 1, compared to 204 for the whole month of August.
The county saw a surge in cases confirmed last week and into the weekend and on Friday the government confirmed the R number – the rate of infection – had risen to above one.
Data released by the government showed it was now estimated to be between 1.0 and 1.2 – the first time since March.
New "rule of six" measures were brought in by central government earlier this week.
Nationally, cases have spiked by 3,539 to 361,672 cases, while deaths increased by six to 41,614.
There were no further deaths confirmed in NHS figures or in the government's own tally, which also includes deaths outside of hospitals or outside the county.
