The award-winning Wellies fish and chip shop in Grantham is to re-open this week, with a click and collect service only.

The popular take-away in Springfield road will be frying again from Thursday.

It will operate from Thursday to Saturday from 11.30am to 7pm.

A new click-and-collect ordering system has already gone live (minimum order £5).

Owners Allison and Dave explained: "There are limited slots for the safety of you and our team. The system allows you to order days in advance, so book early to guarantee your slot.

We have reduced the menu for speed and safety, therefore some items may not be available."

To order, people need to use the chippy's website or Facebook pages and follow instructions, which are also aimed to space custom to avoid people gathering and ensure safe, social distancing.

The couple continued: "This is a new system for both you and us. Whilst we have every confidence that it is a good system, your patience and understanding would be appreciated whilst we settle into a new routine and a new way of serving our customers.

"Unfortunately due to the limited members of staff we will not be able to answer the phone or respond to messages or emails during opening hours. We cannot offer refunds for orders that are not collected. We will deal with any queries as soon as we are able to."

They added: "We've been asked by customers if they can just turn up and order. Unfortunately not, to keep safe distancing, is click and collect only with a limited amount of timed slots.
