More than 200 patients have recovered enough from coronavirus in Lincolnshire to be sent home.

Andrew Morgan, the CEO of the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, revealed the figure to the BBC yesterday.

Altogether, 385 patients who have been tested positive have so far being treated in ULHT hospitals, with 223 being discharged.

Nearly 50 people remain in ULHT-run hospitals following a positive test for the virus.

The trust, which runs Grantham, Boston, Lincoln and Louth hospitals, says 114 people with the virus have died at its hospitals.

Mr Morgan commented: "I can give the assurance that many, many people do go back home, having had the virus and being an inpatient at the trust."

Mark Brassington, the trust's deputy chief executive, confirmed the number of discharges was more than 220 and growing. Nine, he said, had a stay in an intensive care unit.

He added on twitter: "Teams continue to amaze. Not only in treating our 'normal' patients, now taking COVID-19 in their stride whilst planning to restart more services in a way to keep patients and staff safe."
