Coronavirus crisis: More than 100 Lincolnshire cases today

There were 226 positive cases of COVID-19 in Greater Lincolnshire on Tuesday.

The UK coronavirus dashboard latest figures include 137 new cases in Lincolnshire, 49 in North Lincolnshire and 40 in North East Lincolnshire.

Among the districts, South Kesteven recorded 17 today.

It means means there have been 1,784 cases for the month in Greater Lincolnshire.

NHS figures showed a further death at a United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust facility registered on October 13.

However, the government's own death tally, which includes those both in and out of hospitals and those of residents in hospitals outside the county, showed no further new deaths.

Nationally, cases increased by 17,234 to 634,920 while deaths jumped by 143 to 43,018.

On Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a new three-tier lockdown system dividing the nation into medium (tier 1), high (tier 2) and very high (tier 3) level areas.

Today, health bosses in the county confirmed Lincolnshire was in the lowest tier – medium – but added there would still be a significant number of new cases every day".

The 4,362 for Lincolnshire is equivalent to 573 cases per 100,000 of population.

This compares with an England average of 960.1 cases per 100,000 of population, based on its 540,396 cases.

Leicester now reports 8119 cases, or 2292.1 per 100,000. This is an increase of 80 today.

This figure gives a rate more than four times that of Lincolnshire and around five times that of South Kesteven. It is more than five times the Rutland rate.

Leicestershire now has 6392 confirmed cases (up 178 today), giving a rate of 905.2 cases per 100,000.

Melton is up 11 to 338 today, with a rate today of 679.6 cases per 100,000.

Peterborough is up 90 to 2164 or 1040.3 cases per 100,000.

Rutland is up 8 today at 223, giving it a rate of 558.5 cases per 100,000.

South Holland is up 8 today, with a rate of 873.5 cases per 100,000.

And South Kesteven is up 17 today at 816, giving it a rate today of 572.9 cases per 100,000.
