Coronavirus crisis: Lockdown fuels new look at Grantham's Bare Planet

Bare Planet is Grantham's only zero waste shop and as a company it embraces healthy eating, local shopping, ethical sourcing and zero waste.

The shop opened last March, just prior to the first lockdown, at 35 Westgate.

As Nub News reported , it was created by Samantha and Michael Windsor-Hampton who operate the commercial cleaning company Marigold Lincs, as they were seeking another business, but one that was more environmentally sustainable.

Samantha told Nub News: "During the last lockdown we decided our shop needed a better layout, so we had the inner room within the retail space removed. This has created a more accessible and Covid secure shopping experience.

"We encourage our customers to explore the shop at their leisure and interact with the refill stations and peanut butter grinder (ingredients in our peanut butter is 100% organic roasted peanuts. That's it). Our staff enjoy sharing their knowledge and tips on how to lead a more sustainable life and protect our planet."

The shop is open 4 days a week (during lockdown) Thursday 10 - 5pm, Friday 10 - 5pm, Saturday 9 - 5pm, Sunday 11 - 4pm. The Bare Planet office is open for enquiries Mon - Fri 9 - 5pm. There is also a website offering online shopping for those who are shielding or unable to come into the shop.

Samantha continued: "We are stockists of Faith in Nature, Bio D (both have refill stations) and Ocean Saver cleaning products, Booja Booja chocolates and Boxroll toilet paper (pulped in Wales, produced in Market Harborough and delivered by an electric vehicle), along with a plethora of exciting foods and gifts.

"We offer free delivery to all Grantham residents and a small charge of £3.50 to those living in the outlying villages.

"We look forward to seeing customers old and new".
