Coronavirus crisis: Lincolnshire cases top 500 as more deaths are reported

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Lincolnshire has topped 500.

Figures revealed by Public Health England this afternoon said the county has 503 cases, an increase of 23 on the 480 reported yesterday.

The figures are for those being treated in hospital and do not include suspected cases at home or in care homes.

They come as the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust confirmed three further patients have died in its hospitals who had tested positive with the virus, bringing to total of deaths in its hospitals to 65.

A statement added: "The patients were two men aged 82 and 88, and one woman aged 79. All had underlying health conditions."

The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs hospitals at Stamford, Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke did not update its figures today.

Across the region, Leicestershire saw an increase in the number of cases from 553 to 564.

North East Lincolnshire saw an increase from 79 to 84.

North Lincolnshire reported an increase from 124 to 136.

Peterborough saw an increase from 103 to 108.

Rutland saw am increase of one from 11 to 12.

Nationally, according to the NHS, the UK has 98,476 confirmed cases, an increase of 4,605 on yesterday.

The number of deaths of people with the virus increased by 761 to 12,868.
