Grantham's Downtown department store has announced it will re-open to shoppers on Monday June 15.

The move brings the major out-of-town store in line with many similar openings of other retailers expected that day as allowed under government legislation.

Oldrid's and Downtown posted the announcement on Facebook earlier today.

The retailer said: "Our Garden Centre is now open and we are looking forward to reopening our Downtown stores in Grantham & Boston on Monday 15th June.

"We're working hard to ensure it's safe and easy to shop in our stores and that our customers and colleagues stay protected.

"We have really missed seeing our wonderful customers and never, in our 216 year history, have we been away from you for so long - so we are very excited about the 15th. We are confident that during these difficult times our cautious and considered approach has protected our people, our customers and our business.

"Our online store https://www.oldrids.co.uk/ is open 24/7 #StaySafe

As shoppers welcome the news, replying to their questions, the store commented: "Services such as feet measuring, personal shopper, changing rooms and suit fitting will not be available when we open on the 15th - we'll follow guidelines carefully to keep you and our teams safe."

A spokesperson added: "We're opening the Downtowns first as they are newer stores with manageable entrances and their own carparks. Oldrids buildings will take a little more time to manage from a social distancing perspective - bear with us while we work to keep you and our teams safe."
