Coronavirus crisis: Grantham's calm before the storm?

The McDonald's in Grantham was today receiving deliveries in preparation for it's re-opening this week.

It came as the burger giant opened around 50 drive-thrus today, following a similar number last week, amid plans to re-open more than 1,000 drive-thrus nationwide by Thursday.

No staff could be seen at the restaurant on Bridge End Road this morning, but from personal observation, new banners had been erected overnight at the entrance to the drive-thru advertising a restricted range.

The delivery driver declined to comment on when the opening day might be.

A spokesman for McDonald's was unable to either, saying the press office won't be told until the morning of the day which outlets will be re-opening.

Certainly, Grantham wasn't on today's list of re-openings and neither was Colsterworth, Stamford, or Bourne.

Glinton, between Peterborough and the Deepings, re-opened last week.

I guess Grantham burger lovers will have to wait until tomorrow, or at least the day after.
