Grantham and District Churches Together are creating a 'railings of remembrance' so people can pay their respects to their departed loved ones.
The move comes as South Kesteven District Council and other authorities have had to impose restrictions in cemetery access to follow government guidelaines.
In Grantham, the cemetery and crematorium is closed as 'a walk through space', though funeral and burial services are available to a limited number of family members.
Rev David From The United Parish of the Trinity said: 'With the news that it has been necessary to close the local cemetery to all visitors for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis we as a Parish are keen to support those desperately feeling the need to come close to their loved ones and are distressed at not being able to do so.
"Therefore, we are making the railings of the neighbouring church, St Anne's available to anyone who wishes to tie prayers and messages of remembrance. These sentiments will be thoughtfully and prayerfully read by the Parish team.
He advised: "In accordance with Government guidelines we would ask that you do not make any unnecessary journey to visit us and that if you find others there you socially distance yourselves.
"We would also ask that physical objects such as flowers, balloons and teddy bears are not left for health and safety reasons.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time and we look forward to serving our local community as fully as possible once restrictions are lifted. God bless."
