A Grantham woman has started making colourful facemasks, which are becoming the talk of the town.

Amanda Garrett of Sewing By Sue created a range of colourful face coverings last month when she started making PPE coverings for essential workers.

The 44-year-old then discovered a demand from the wider public.

Sewing By Sue is best known for creating 'Memory Bears', which are teddy bears partly made from the clothes of a deceased loved one, which aim to give comfort to the bereaved.

Amanda told Grantham Nub News: "These bears are our business and they have been very successful. But with the Covid-19 crisis people stopped ordering. I said to mum, let's make face masks.

"Now, when you walk around town everybody is wearing our masks."

Further custom is expected as more businesses return to work.

Amanda offers a range of plain or patterned fabrics, plus embroidery, including names or initials on a face mas, to help ensure they are not shared.

She already has had orders coming from small businesses in the Grantham area.

Amanda added: "They are very pretty. We have a range of over 60 different fabrics so people do not loo the same.

"They also have an air bubble over the ears to make them comfortable. We have three different sizes, children, adult and extra large."

The masks cost £4 each and can be ordered by contacting Amanda on the Facebook link above.
