St Wulfram's Church and the Savoy Cinema in Grantham have both received a major cash boost from central government.

The money is part of almost £400 million of grants and loans announced today to help the cultural sector survive the pandemic and prepare for recovery.

The Savoy Cinema in Grantham is to receive £70,621 and St Wulfram's Church is to receive £39,100.

A third Grantham recipient is the Skillington Workshop , a Grantham-based company that repairs and restores historic buildings, which will receive £10,100.

Both St Wulfram's Church and the Skillington Workshop told Nub News they had just received notice about the money and they would comment after the Easter Holidays.

Nationally, more than 2,700 organisations will benefit from today's announcement.

This brings the Government's total investment across grants, capital and repayable finance from the Culture Recovery Fund so far to more than £1.2 billion across over 5,000 individual cultural and heritage organisations and sites.

Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden, said:"Our record breaking Culture Recovery Fund has already helped thousands of culture and heritage organisations across the country survive the biggest crisis they've ever faced.

"Now we're staying by their side as they prepare to welcome the public back through their doors - helping our cultural gems plan for reopening and thrive in the better times ahead."
