Coronavirus crisis: Free testing in Grantham expanded to all

Free lateral flow testing has been expanded so that anyone who does not have symptoms can now check whether they have COVID-19.

The tests are available (from Monday April 12th) at South Kesteven District Council's testing station in Grantham West Community Centre, Trent Road, Grantham.

As Nub News recently reported, the testing was previously available for key workers.

The aim of asymptomatic testing is to help identify and isolate individuals who have COVID-19 but do not have symptoms and may inadvertently be spreading the virus. The test takes only a few minutes and the results are usually sent by email or text within an hour.

All those who test positive are notified and given details of what they should do next.

The testing station is open Mondays 8.30am-2.30pm; Tuesdays 12noon- 6pm; Wednesdays 8.30am-2.30pm; Thursdays 12noon-6pm. No appointment is necessary and the last tests are carried out 30 minutes before the closing time.

Home testing kits are also available for anyone to collect from the Community Centre, as well as the walk-through testing station at Queen Elizabeth Park, Grantham.

Both sites are COVID-secure - face masks must be worn and social distancing guidance adhered to, while one-way systems and hand sanitiser dispensers are in place.

Anyone who has symptoms should self-isolate and call 119 or go to www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test to book a PCR test.
