All day cases and routine elective surgery scheduled at Grantham Hospital is being cancelled from tomorrow (Tues).

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has announced the move as part of its response to the current coronavirus outbreak.

It says the decision will enable the trust's hospitals to free up staff to care for patients in other areas.

A trust spokesman said: "From tomorrow, all day case and elective routine surgery will be cancelled at Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital, Boston and Grantham and District Hospital.

"This does not include cancer surgery and other clinically urgent cases.

"All affected patients will be contacted directly to inform them of the cancellation."
