An award-winning Grantham bar has cut its opening hours but has announced plans for a delivery service.

Beerheadz in Watergate announced the move yesterday and began the shortened service today.

A statement posted on the bar's Facebook page said: "Given the current Government advice, we are in limbo between the choice of closing (and possibly losing) our business and serving you, our treasured and faithful customers.

"We have therefore made the difficult decision to drastically reduce our opening times to 4pm until 8pm every day starting Wednesday 18th March. This will have a massive effect on our business, staff and loyal customers, but we believe it is the right thing for us at the moment. Of course, advice seems to be changing daily so we will keep this under constant review.

"We are also in the process of devising a takeaway pre-order system and possibly home deliveries (providing we can still get beer). If you are interested in this service, please give us a shout in the comments so that we can gauge the feasibility of this.

The post added: "Big love goes out to all of our fellow publicans, brewers and other business owners. We are all in the same boat, let's hope we can all row through this together."

Beerheadz in Grantham is part of a small chain of micro-pubs, who also posted the same message on their Facebook pages.

Beerheadz is popular with CAMRA members and other lovers of real Ale, though it also sells keg beers. The chain's motto is that it offers 'a drop of the unusual.'

It also offers a range of canned and bottled beers.
