Lincolnshire's council leader Martin Hill has said it is 'disappointing' that the country has to go into lockdown again, pointing out the county has a lower infection rate than many other parts of the country.
Coun Hill also pledged that the county council will do all it can to help businesses and residents throughout the pandemic.
He said today: "Our numbers of positive cases of Covid-19 remain a lot lower than the national average and are currently at 137 per 100,000 compared to the national average of 228. But we understand there is a much bleaker picture in other parts of the country – we know the situation can change quickly and we'll be keeping a close eye on our figures.
"It's going to be difficult for people seeing their freedoms reduced again and for our businesses to have to close. The county council will do all we can to support residents, businesses and communities and will continue to deliver important public services. Vital support and services for some of our most vulnerable older residents, children and young people will continue to be a priority."
Coun Hill continued: "The government have asked for public buildings to stay open. People can still rely on things like the household waste recycling centres through our click and tip service and we'll keep spaces like Lincoln Castle grounds open for people to access for daily exercise and wellbeing. It's really important to take exercise and get out at least once a day.
"When we get more details from Government about the financial support available for businesses, we'll be letting people know how they can access this as soon as possible."
"The NHS is open and people should continue to use it for new problems or for existing treatment. If you have any health issues, try NHS 111 on line or via the phone or check online/call your GP practice."
He added: "Remember it's vital to reduce your contact with others as much as possible, and continue to wash your hands regularly, wear a face covering in indoor public spaces and maintain social distancing with anyone outside of your household or support bubble.
"By reducing the spread of the virus we'll be in a better position as we go into the festive season which we want to share with family and friends with shops and businesses open for all to enjoy.
