A planned unveiling of the statue of Margaret Thatcher in Grantham has attracted nationwide interest, especially on social media.
On Facebook, a planned egg throwing contest has attracted more than 13,000 responses. They include 2,000 people saying they will go to the event and 11,300 saying they are 'interested.'
The 'host' of the event is Kass Ariff, who according to Facebook is from Birmingham.
Inviting people to the egg throwing competition, Kass also said: "Bois and girls and me non binarys, we out here holding contest for egg throwing, lassos throwing, and potentially graffiti art.
"Where are we doing this you might ask, well the in the wonderful city of Grantham, and we have a special target being made currently, a beautiful statue of the Iron Lady, now it's a family friendly event so please be respectful and pick up ya litter. Not sure on the unvaling of the statue but will change the date accordingly."
Kass is also pictured on Facebook with Soviet era memorabilia, including a tank with a red star on it.
There is also the motto: "Sometimes anti-social, always anti-fascist."
Members of South Kesteven District Council's cabinet this afternoon is expected to 'underwrite' a major unveiling event by a sum of up to £100,000.
No date has yet been set for the event, which has already been delayed due to the pandemic.
However, major fundraising is planned, hoping to cover this cost.
As Nub News reported last week, the district council sees the unveiling as attracting global interest and a chance to promote Grantham.
The event will also promote other famous daughters of Grantham, including Edith Smith, the first warranted female police officer.
The £300,000 statue by sculptor Douglas Jennings was commissioned by the Public Memorials Appeal. It was due to go up in Westminster but fears of vandalism led to Grantham Museum to successfully lobby the charity to bring the statue to Grantham.
Earlier today, Grantham district and county councillor Ray Wootten told Nub News: "We are fortunate to live in a society where the right to freedom of speech exists however, society has its rules and apart from being a waste of eggs any offences committed should be dealt with by the Police."
