Avoid A1 near Grantham say Lincolnshire Police

Lincolnshire Police are urging motorists to avoid the A1 in the Grantham area.

The warning comes as they have closed the northbound lane following a collision this afternoon at the A52 Grantham North/Barrowby turn off.

Traffic is queuing from Grantham to Newark as emergency services deal with the incident.

AA Roadwatch has just reported: "Severe delays of 37 minutes and delays increasing on A1 Northbound between Tollemache Road North and A52 (Grantham North / Barrowby Turn Off). Average speed five mph."
