Ambitious plans to make Grantham Fire Station 'fit for purpose'

Local News by The Editor 6th Aug 2019

Grantham Fire Station looks set to get a major upgrade - including a new fire training building, improved station facilities and a bungalow for wholetime firefighters.

Lincolnshire County Council says a planning application will 'shortly be submitted' that also features plans to refurbish the first floor and re-decoration of the entire existing fire station along with improved station facilities and additional parking spaces.

People living and working near Grantham Fire Station can find out more about the scheme for the site at a drop-in information session being held on Wednesday, 14 August between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.

Plans of the proposed building work will be available and fire staff will be on-hand to answer any questions.

Cllr Nick Worth, executive councillor for emergency services at the county council, said: "We're investing in our fire stations so they are fit for purpose and make sure we can give a great service to our communities.

"Subject to planning, work is currently scheduled to start early in 2020 and be completed in summer 2020."

The planning application will soon be available to view on Lincolnshire County Council's website.

Anyone unable to attend the drop-in event can send queries to [email protected]
