The final few days of work are now underway before Grantham Savoy Cinema opens its doors to the public on Friday (19 July).

The completion of Screen 1, the premium large format auditorium will boast laser 4k digital projection combined with a Dolby Atmos sound system, now almost complete.

The 186-seat Screen 1 will be the largest of the five screens at the cinema.

The auditorium will be equipped with the first Barco Series 4 RGB Primary laser projector in the UK. Laser projection offers pin sharp images with high contrast ratio and dynamic range to provide a remarkable customer experience.

The projection system will be complemented by a Dolby Atmos sound system, the latest in immersive sound technology comprising 28 separate surround channels of sound in addition to left, centre, right, and subwoofers behind the screen.

With additional speakers, including overhead, sound comes from all directions enhancing the overall cinema experience wherever you are sitting in the auditorium.

Dolby Atmos sound, paired with Barco's 4k laser projector, will completely immerse cinema goers, strengthening the impact of the story and creating an unforgettable cinema experience.

"This is the second Dolby Atmos installation that Omnex has undertaken for Savoy," explains Simon Tandy, Managing Director of cinema integration company Omnex, which is responsible for the supply of much of the state-of-the-art audio visual equipment at Grantham.

To top it off, the auditorium will be equipped for digital 3D for family blockbusters.

The screen surface being installed this week will be the latest Clarus XC, manufactured by Harkness Screens in France, and uses next-generation technology to compliment laser projection with 3D.
