The Firework Champions event at Belvoir Castle tomorrow (Sat) will go ahead, despite gusts of up to 40mph forecast for the evening.

Organisers MLE Pyrotechnics Ltd confirmed that the blustery weather will not prevent the popular event - celebrating it's sixth year at Belvoir - from taking place.

The company's Tam Lawrence told Grantham Nub News today: "It's just one day to go now until Belvoir Castle Firework Champions.

"The event will be going ahead tomorrow come wind, rain or (hopefully!) shine.

"We have many procedures in place to combat the adverse weather, such as moving the firing sites further away from the audience and re-angling the fireworks if this is required.

"We look forward to seeing everyone there on Saturday night!"

Visitors can arrive from 4pm and the event starts at 9pm with a real-time lesson in pyromusical choreography when various fireworks will be fired accompanied by an explanation of how they work and where they are used.

Three of the UK's best firework companies - Flashpoint Fireworks, Starlight China and Flashpoint Fireworks - will then each fire a 10-minute display perfectly choreographed to music with a five-minute interval between shows.

The displays are synchronised to the split second and use cutting-edge electronic firing technology.

After the three shows the audience will choose the winning display via standard rate text voting.

MLE Pyrotechnics will fire a larger closing display after the voting finishes and before the results are announced.

Advance tickets are still available - until midday tomorrow (Sat) - costing £19 for adults and £9 for children and available by clicking the red button below or calling 1327 876 037. Entry on the gate is £21 for adults and £11 for children.
