Repairs are being sought to a historic Grantham pub.

Enterprise Inns has applied to South Kesteven District Council to undertake the work to the Blue Pig at 9 Vine Street.

The 500-year-old inn, which is believed to be listed, needs structural repairs.

The planning application says the pub has rotting oak beams, movement and cracking of external walls and sagging ceilings.

Repairs would include removing and replacing rotten oak sections, and other 'like for like repairs'.

Consultant architect Mark Winklewski said: "The proposed works are justified in my opinion, will represent minimum intervention to and retention of essential historic fabric and features, and will ensure stability to the deteriorated and defective parts of the building in an appropriate manner.

"I can therefore see no objections to the proposal either in principle or detail."

SKDC has yet to determine the application.
