Council staff have been praised for dealing with fallen trees quickly last night.

Coun Mark Whittington (Con-Barrowby Gate) posted these photos on social media of a tree that had fallen in Barrowby.

They were among several that had fallen in the district in the strong winds from Storm Francis.

Coun Whittington posted at 8.40pm: "Many thanks to the SKDC Emergency Team for dealing so quickly with our rogue tree in Barrowby this evening. Just over an hour from call out to resolution."

Lincolnshire Highways also had staff on hand to deal with fallen trees that were blocking roads and pathways but it warned: "Although we'll move fallen trees so we can safely reopen roads and footpaths, ultimately the landowner is responsible for disposing of the tree."
