Grantham Foodbank has received a financial boost from South Kesteven District Council's Ward Member Grant scheme.

Arnoldfield Councillor Dean Ward's grant of £1,000 is a welcome cash injection for the foodback.

"They can turn £1,000 into £7,000 worth of food through their buying power and agreements with local supermarkets," said Coun Ward.

"With the weather getting colder people on low incomes can have tough choices to make between heating and food and should never happen in this day and age."

Foodbank coordinator Brian Hanbury said: "This will help support local people at a time of crisis in their lives which is what we're all about - restoring dignity, reviving hope and rebuilding local communities.

"We're always grateful for donations of food or money and look forward to turning this donation into something that will give real help."
