Plans for 66 homes in village near Grantham gain approval

By The Editor 20th Jan 2021

Plans for 66 homes in a growing village near Grantham have been approved by councillors.

Members of the planning committee of South Kesteven District Council unanimously voted for the scheme from Larkfleet Homes on 2.65 ha of open fields to the the south east of Corby Glen.

The site is off Bourne Road with the fire station and Charles Read Academy to the north west and Swinstead Road to the south west.

As Nub News previously reported, the 'major application' was recommended for approval by SKDC planning staff.

Planning agent Hannah Guy told the meeting that the site is 'sustainable' and allocated for development under council planning policies.

Larkfleet had worked with the council, amending the scheme and devising a masterplan to meet a 'vision statement' of the council.

The developer, she continued, consulted extensively with nearby residents, changing the application during the planning process, which led to two fewer homes being proposed eventually.

There were now no objections to the scheme and any mitigation could be dealt with through planning conditions.

Members welcomed the scheme and all voted to approve it.

Earlier, a report by SKDC planning staff noted the contribution the scheme would make towards affordable housing, as well as to facilities in the growing village, which members noted was becoming almost a town.

Further details of the scheme can be seen here.
