Grantham's long-awaited Home Bargains superstore is finally open.

The premises off Dysart Road opened at 8am on Saturday and has been busy ever since.

As previously reported by Nub News, the relocation of Home Bargains was due to happen last autumn, but was delayed largely due to the pandemic.

The new store at Unit 1 in the Dysart Retail Park, situated in the former Homebase, is about twice as large of the old one in Sank Augustin Way, which has now closed.

Another 40 staff have been recruited for the new outlet, giving it nearly 70 in total.

Store manager Adam Lewin told Nub News: "The opening has gone brilliantly. The feedback has been great. It's been amazing.

"There was no queue first thing at 8am. I don't think people realised we open at 8am but we did have queues through the day.

"We enjoyed a really high turnout over the weekend and it's continuing today. People love it. It's fantastic."

Adam added the former store in the Augustin Retail Park was no longer trading. Both the new staff and those that have been transferred over are "settling in well."
