Hull Trains has confirmed plans for extra services to and from Grantham from next week.

The rail operators has also issued a reminder to say its services are running as normal following the successful completion of stringent safety checks over the weekend.

As reported by Nub News over the weekend, several train operators halted or cancelled some services while Hitachi high speed trains faced safety checks.

Hull Trains said its services were back up and running by Saturday afternoon (8th May) after thorough checks were made by Hitachi to Hull Trains Fleet of Class 800 series trains.

A statement said today: "All services have been running as normal ever since and the operator is pushing ahead with plans to increase the number of services it runs from next week."

"Hull Trains proposes to move from a reduced timetable, that has been in place as a result of Covid-19 safety restrictions, to a service increase of 68 from week commencing May 17th.

"Passengers who have booked tickets for trains this week are encouraged to turn up as normal.

"Several Hull Trains services had been affected on Saturday morning after a number of Class 800 series Hitachi trains from several train companies were taken out of service for checks as a precautionary measure.

"Any customers who were affected by cancelled services can receive a full refund without any fees by applying through our website."

Despite Hull Trains reporting the restoration of services, fellow East Coast Mail Line operator LNER says some services still remain cancelled.

It is urging passengers to check before they travel that their journey can still be made if they are travelling this week.

LNER said just before 6pm: "A temporary, amended timetable will remain in place until Friday 14 May across the LNER route.

"This is due to a number of Hitachi Class 800 trains from several train companies being taken out of service for ongoing checks as a precautionary measure.

"The issue with the Class 800 trains continues to be investigated. Once trains have been checked, they are being reintroduced back into service as soon as possible.

"In addition, LNER is due to introduce an InterCity 225 train back into service tomorrow ahead of the original reintroduction date planned for June.

"Customers are being asked to check before they travel and ensure they have a seat reservation. We apologise for any disruption caused. The latest information can be found at lner.co.uk."
